Dear Friend,

It was a year that no one could have imagined. A rare cancer diagnosis nearly put a cure out of reach and my family in peril. But through it all, a significant fact emerged – that the community we live in has an extraordinary desire and ability to help its own in need and to help provide a family the resources it needs to beat the odds.

Thank you for rising to the challenge and supporting the Carrie Premsagar Foundation achieve its goal of providing a successful treatment when insurance might not. Thank you for providing needed resources for travel expenses, hospitalization, surgeon fees and helping to raise awareness that it could have been any of us.

The need that was identified for my family and I brought into focus the realities of the challenges many families face and the devastating impact major medical events can have on a family’s financial stability. What we all learned, as a result, is that it can happen to anyone and despite our best efforts, we can never be prepared enough to deal with the financial challenges of a rare cancer diagnosis. Combining that understanding with the successes of these few years, we realized that we have a great ability and opportunity to help many other families.

Your support thus far has brought to people successful treatments, it helped to support a unique and new treatment for a neighbor and it helped to offset the cost of living expenses for a family in Massachusetts without insurance coverage. This is the mission of the Carrie Premsagar Foundation – to provide financial assistance for families coping with the high costs of medical treatment and to help individuals fight for their lives and the families who love them.

Our second annual “Denim and Bling” event is scheduled for Friday, May 3rd, 2013. Your attendance will directly impact the lives of families in our community who are dealing with a life threatening disease.
